M'daue police receive "Medalya ng Papuri"

-

CEBU - For demonstrating exemplary dedication in the police service, the Police Regional Office-7 awarded Mandaue City police officer in charge, Supt. Vicente Premne the “Medalya ng Papuri.”

Premne, along with 17 other policemen, all received the Medalya ng Papuri from PRO-7 director, Supt. Ronald Roderos after yesterday’s flag raising ceremony.

According to General Order 408, the award was given pursuant to a National Police Commission circular on the granting of the Medalya ng Papuri to policemen who have “demonstrated exemplary devotion and dedication in their work.”

In particular was the arrest of a woman allegedly responsible for a bomb scare at the salas of Regional Trial Court Judges Teresita Galanida, in Mandaue City, and Soliver Peras, in Cebu City, last week.

Premne and his men were able to arrest the suspect Erlinda Cagata, 44, of Punta Princesa, this city, less than four days after both judges received a letter containing the said threat.

In her letter, Cagata identified herself as a certain Celing Toleron, wife of a Muslim rebel whose mission was to bomb the two Palaces of Justice.

Immediately, Premne traced the letter to the courier company whose attendant gave them the identity of Cagata as the one responsible for the sending of the two letters.

Cagata has pending cases of estafa in the chambers of Galanida and Peras. And that the suspect was arrested after a bench warrant was issued by Galanida for her failure to show up at the hearing.

Galanida and Peras filed charges for grave threats and concealing of true name against Cagata.

A Medalya ng Papuri is equivalent to five days credit leave as part of the computation of benefits upon retirement of a PNP member.

Along with Premne, the other awardees were Chief Insp. Eddie Recamara, Insp. Alfredo Ortiz, Jr.; Insp. Rainero Cortes, SPO4 Ariston Bataluna, Jr.; SPO2 Arturo Menaling, Jr.; SPO1 Arnulfo Quiachon, Jr.; SPO1 Kerwin Bejer, PO3 Protacio Tago, Jr.; PO2 Sanchez Fegarido, PO2 Jeffrey Matunog, PO1 Cristito Raboy, PO1 Jefferson Jacalan, PO1 Joel Osabel, PO1 Marino Lofranco, PO1 Herbert Andrew Partosa, and PO1 Annalyn Daymil. — Ferliza C.
