SC cases soon to be available via Internet
The Supreme Court decided to give the litigants and other interested persons an easy way to verify the updates of cases filed before the High Court.
The personnel manning the Supreme Court’s public information office said the checking of the status of cases will soon be just a click of a mouse away once the Case Management Information System is finalized days from now.
The CMIS is an automated modernizing system that will allow the Supreme Court to assume closer coordination with the Court of Appeals, Sandiganbayan and Court of Tax Appeals for a better control over the litigation process through a collaborative effort to make the said courts function more effectively and efficiently.
Chief Justice Reynato Puno will lead Supreme Court officials in launching the latest innovative of the High Tribunal at the SC Session Hall in
Lawyers and the litigants all over the country, particularly in Cebu City, welcomed the move of the Supreme Court to improve its performance by coming up with the innovation.
During the launching of the CMIS, US Ambassador Kristie Kenney will formally turn over the equipment to the chief justice on behalf of the United States Agency for International Development.
The officials of the USAID are hoping that the implementation of the CMIS will help reduce delay and prevent case congestion in courts and also speed up the pace of litigation.
It will also strengthen judicial accountability and its integrity infrastructure and to enhance the capacity of justices to manage caseload more efficiently and in a more convenient manner, and most of all to improve access to justice and public access to relevant information on cases.
The Supreme Court has its own website where the decisions and resolutions of cases are published in full, but the public cannot verify the updates of the pending cases. — Rene U. Borromeo/BRP
