NSV Int’l, American docs to conduct free “no scalpel vasectomy” in 2008

-

NSV International, Inc. of Pennsylvania, USA and some Minnesota doctors will conduct a free “no scalpel vasectomy” (NSV) and medical-surgical mission at Southwestern University’s Sacred Heart Hospital on Urgello Street from January 14 to 18, 2008.

Myrna Danuco, one of the organizers, said that NSV is a modern technique of vasectomy that do not require incision and suture but Band-Aid only. It is safe, simple and quick procedure that lasts for about 15 minutes only, she said.

Prospective clients will have to attend an NSV orientation weeks before the NSV mission or the procedure so that they will know everything about NSV and to eliminate misconceptions on the technique, Danuco said.

Danuco also said that about 30 patients are expected to undergo NSV, and she advised them to go on a semen analysis three months after the procedure to determine the production of sperm cells.

The NSV is a good option for men who would not want to have more children anymore, and Danuco assured them that, contrary to some doubts and fears, NSV will not affect the sexual functions of the patient.

Blue-collar workers and professionals have undergone NSV, including the founders themselves, Dr. Ramon Suarez, Engr. Bob Kiamco and their relatives.

Suarez is a urologist and NSV expert who is a member of the Diplomate American Board of Urology and had performed vasectomy for over 25 years here and abroad. His son, Dr. Ron Suarez, his brother and nephew had also undergone NSV themselves.

All of them are NSV advocates, along with their spouses Dr. Nenita Suarez and Dr. Benita Kiamco, citing their concern of many Filipino families who have hard times in feeding and maintaining the health of their children because of economic reasons.

NSV International has been providing a year-round free NSV procedures, coupled with free anesthesia and antibiotics.

For its January mission in Cebu, NSV International will also provide lunch and other freebies to their patients.

Marie Stopes Inc., which has been with NSV for five years already, will also provide food stuffs for the two-day, no-heavy work, and no-income situation of NSV clients. — Phoebe Jen Indino/RAE
