Elevator mishap kills construction worker

A construction worker was killed after being pressed between the elevator shaft and the elevator at a construction site along Osmeña Boulevard the other night.

David Lucay-lucay, 26, a native of Barili, Cebu, was found lying inside the construction elevator with severe injuries on his head and left arm.

The victim's co-workers, Joni Alcosero and Lucio Watin, said that they were on board the construction elevator with some other workers from the seventh floor when, upon reaching the fourth floor, they suddenly heard a loud sound and saw the victim being pressed.

SPO2 Rey Cuyos of the Homicide Section said that Lucay-lucay was on the fourth floor when the approaching elevator stopped, pressing his body. His fellow workers removed Lucay-lucay's body by breaking the wall of the elevator shaft.

Officials at the construction site have been informed of the incident but the relatives of the victim, however, still have to be notified.
