A smartwatch with mechanical hands

In what has been described by netizens as a move to gain renewed interest in smartwatches, LG recently had the unveiling of a smartwatch that isn’t just topped by a touch screen display: it also comes with mechanical hands.

Dubbed the “W7,” the smartdevice basically comes with a “traditional” watch which can run on a “watch only” mode for 100 days, negating the need for users to have to regularly keep it charged to effectively work.

On its “full” smartwatch mode, the device has a two-day battery life – a duration on which users can use the watch to sync data and information to a compatible smartphone or computer, read text messages, emails, issue voice commands for smartphone functions/navigation, and the like.

To be made available in overseas markets by October 14, the device is touted to be one of the more innovative takes on smartwatches to date – although some argue that it’s not exactly the first to implement the smartwatch-with-mechanical-hands concept, what with startups like MyKronos having made similar devices in the past.
