New Tonkotsu Ramen Offerings

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu foodies who wish for an update of the authentic Japanese ramen offerings in the city may now have their wish granted. Barikata Ramen Bar at Calyx Center Cebu, in the Cebu IT Park, have recently been introduced new specials to sate the discerning palates.

In time for the restaurant’s first anniversary, three tonkotsu ramen variations have been added to the Barikata’s menu highlights – alongside two Japanese bento choices.

The new “Kuro Tonkotsu” (tonkotsu ramen with roasted ground garlic and sesame oil), “Aka Tonkotsu” (spicy tonkotsu ramen with ground pork and chili oil) and “Shiro Tonkotsu” (traditional tonkotsu ramen) can be enjoyed with add-on toppings that include nori (dried seaweed), tamago (egg), cha shu (cuts of braised pork bely) and beni shoga (Japanese ginger pickle). The ramen specials are all prepared with a special pork- bone broth.

Diners may also opt to go “zenbu” (Japanese for “everything”) with their toppings, and can also enjoy their ramen with Barikata’s new “Ebi (shrimp) Tempura Bento” or “Tori Karaage (Japanese-style fired chicken) Bento”.  (FREEMAN)
