Ayala Center Cebu Presents Popular Cultural Show "Byahe"

CEBU, Philippines - Traditional Filipino dances punctuate the culture show, weaving in and out of plays and stories about Filipino experiences spun in ancient history. This January, the Queen City of the South will witness a musicale pageantry showcasing the beauty of the Philippines, her culture and people performed by singers, dancers, acrobats-magicians and fire dancers all coming from different persuasions in one cultural show at Ayala Center Cebu.

 On January 25 at 7pm, Cebu will be audience to a theatrical taste of Filipino culture through"Byahe", a popular cultural show by the 10 G troupers of the Lakwatsero Lounge. This multi-sensorial musicale travelogue done in motion, music and video  that  takes off from various cultural icons and expressions of the Philippines will showcase stylized renditions and dramatic-choreographic works taking inspirations from folk dances which are given new and more contemporary feel. Threaded with both traditional and contemporary music tempered with local colors and "avant-garde" design, and against the backdrop of video clips showing places, faces and culture of the Philippines, "Byahe" will be the first cultural show done live at Ayala Center Cebu's The Gallery.

"Byahe" will be introducing the various people of the Philippines as it opens with "Kanta Filipinas", a musicale lifestyles of the mountain tribes in the Philippines to be followed by a presentation of Mindanao and the allures of the Philippine seas and water. The third segment of Byahewill exhibit the rural semblance of the Philippines through "Uran" and "The Bird Dance" while fusing folk dances like "Tinikling," "Kuratsa," and "Kuradang."  Get your dose of comic relief through  "Pasayawa Ko Day" coupled by a medley of dances like "Pandanggo sa Ilaw," and "Maglalatik". Let the fire dancing segment take your breath away and even get to participate in the dances onstage while singing "It's More Fun in the Philippines" accompanied by dancers donning the Sinulog as their tribute to the Sr. Sto Nino, Cebu's patron.

 With the 10 G Troupers, the resident performing company of Lakwatsa Resto Lounge and their passion for passion for the performing arts and the purveyance of their vocation as artists-creators, "Byahe" is definitely going to be one fun cultural experience one shouldn't miss.
