Free Clinic at St. Martin de Porres

It was a complete free medical and dental clinic for all the children of St. Martin de Porres School for the mentally challenged, autistic and hearing-impaired, as well as the children’s parents. The free clinic was sponsored by the personnel and staff of MSY Holdings, Inc. who were October birthday celebrators. They chipped in on anything needed for the free clinic…medicines, food, water and toys for the children, and even bringing the Jollibee mascot who titillated the autistics and hearing-impaired no end.

The birthday guys and dolls were: Cyrus Lamagon, Leah Marte, Marcelo Munasque, Martin Cabatingan, Carla Yeung McKowen, Martin Yeung, Lisa Benemerito, Ronnie Ocampo, Cathy Salimbangon, Meren Gepilano, Monette Aliño and Chad Salimbangon. Helping with the medicines were the Provincial Health Office and Department of Health – 7.

The volunteer-doctors, members of the Philippine Medical Women’s Association (PMWA), Cebu Chapter were: Dr. Wilma Lucero, Dr. Susana Deborah Limchiu, Dr. Sandra Revelo, Dr. Celeste Cabahug, Dr. Clara Credo, Dr. Jenny Postrero, Dr. Anabelle Carrera, Dr. Grace Bautista and Dr. Beam Albite.

The dentists who volunteered their services were members of the Cebu Doctors University Dentistry Batch 1987 who call themselves “Apolonians” were: Dr. Tina Jordana – president; Dr. Lia Miñoza Relej – secretary; Dr. Maggie Montesclaros Cabahug – treasurer; Dr. Angel Niñal – assistant treasurer; Dr. Amy Mayol Ramirez – auditor; Dr. Joy Mendoza – PRO; and Dr. Mary Christ Gelig, are also members of the Philippine Dental Association and Cris Canque – technician.

From Visayan Surety & Insurance Company were volunteers – Rachel Lacuesta, Judith Eva Cabrido, Mary Joy Donque, Eddielyn Palanas, Ely Go, Kelvin Caballes, Terence Garcia and Robert Perez.

After the doctors, dentists and other volunteers rendered free services, the St. Martin de Porres children were served a hearty lunch by Jollibee. Before dispersal, Chad Salimbangon, one of the birthday guys, distributed school supplies to all the children of St. Martin de Porres.
