Progress starts in libraries

- Andrea Kaylie Leyson Talamban Elem. School -

CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Education requires children to read books which are educational and not those magazines and non-educational books.

Why do we have to read books? Because these are good for us and for us to improve. Improvement and progress start in our school libraries.

In our library, for example, we have this record book ifor library users. That record book is around three years old. However, only one-fourth of the pages are used. This just shows that students aren’t used to going into the school library.

That’s basically the reason why DepEd decided to organize book clubs or reading clubs in schools in line with the National Reading Month. Through this move, the knowledge one gets from reading can be shared to everyone.
