Exciting Macau!

- Robby M. Alugar -

CEBU, Philippines - Recently, we joined The Freight Summit organized by Raueber & Walle Solutions Ltd. held at the Venetian Macau-Resort Hotel from October 11 to 14. Now on its fourth year, The Freight Summit is the first and only open networking event for all independent freight forwarders worldwide. Around 500 to 600 forwarders from all corners of the globe met to network with one another and explore business opportunities, using the newly improved face-to-face business matching and scheduling software.

Being the Overseas Relations Manager of Global Carrier Phils., Inc. gives me the opportunity to meet our agents abroad in one setting. Two years ago, I was also with my Managing Director Carmel de Pio-Salvador and Director Gino Salvador when we attended the 6th Annual Sino-International Freight Forwarders Conference in Hong Kong.

I have been privileged to experience the Best of Macau! Today it has built up a number of diverse attractions in world class tourism with hotels, resorts, MICE facilities, restaurants and casinos.

Since we stayed at the Venetian Macau-Resort-Hotel, I was fascinated with its soaring architecture built as a tribute to the glory of Venice, revealing aura of that inspired poets, romantics and dreamers for centuries. There’s so much to explore at the Venetian Resort alone where a variety of leisure and entertainment options are available. It’s so majestic while strolling along a cobblestone walkway at the Grand Canal and browse through a wide array of international boutiques or be serenaded aboard an authentic Italian gondola.

I also indulged in the flavors of local Macanese cuisine, aside from the culinary delights of the diverse stylish restaurants serving international, Western, Chinese or Japanese buffet spreads.

I made sure to venture outdoors and explore Macau’s glitzy casinos, hopping among Venetian Macao, Sands Casino, Wynn Resorts and of course the City of Dreams where you can find the world’s newest most spectacular extravaganza show. “The House of Dancing Water” is uniquely created for City of Dreams by Franco Dragone, the world’s most spectacular showmaker whose shows have been seen by over 75 million spectators worldwide.

The show is in a theater with many breakthroughs, including a stage pool that holds a record-breaking 3.7 million gallons of water, equivalent to 5 Olympic-sized swimming pools. This state-of-the-art theater provides the setting for the birth of an epic love story and spectacular journey through time, showcasing dazzling costumes, special effects and record breaking acts never seen before in a theater. The show is a must-see experience. Be sure to catch it, only at City of Dreams, Macau.

Getting to Macau is very convenient nowadays. If you go via Hong Kong International Airport, the airport ferry service is available. Passengers can transit out of Macau via Hong Kong International Airport without the need to go through HK Customs and Immigration formalities and also without the hassle of carrying their luggage to the ferry terminal. Just proceed to E2 counter and purchase the Turbo Jet or the Cotai Jet ticket then enjoy a fast, efficient, convenient and hassle-free journey to Macau, approximately 45 minutes. Once you arrive in Macau, you will be welcomed to take a complimentary shuttle bus to the Cotai Strip and the bus will drop you off at your preferred hotel.

I would like to thank my Directors for giving me an opportunity to travel. (FREEMAN)
