The homecoming

CEBU CAROUSEL - Joe C. Recio -

Dr. Matilde Ceniza excitedly told me about the alumnae homecoming of St. Theresa’s College. An annual event, the homecoming focused on the jubilarians, among them Matilde, who belongs to STC high school class ‘50, and was therefore honored as diamond jubilarians.

Other jubilarians were the emerald jubilarians - HS class ‘55, the golden jubilarians - HS class ‘60, the corals - HS class ‘75, the rubies - HS class ‘70, the pearls - college and HS class ‘80, the silver jubilarians - HS class ‘85, and the platinum – HS class ‘90.

The jubilarians celebrated with the traditional Mass and a program with dance numbers from each class, capped by a fellowship dinner. Matilde’s class and her former classmate Dorie Lluch Tamula did a flamenco number to the tune of Paso Doble. Another highlight of the program was silver jubilarian Lilac Caña, a Canada-based operatic singer, who gave some song numbers. All in all, says Matilde, it was a fun reunion time for friendships to be renewed in the centennial year of the ICM nuns with the theme of “Fire and Grace.”
