Cream Silk gives a worthy challenge to UP women

-

Cream Silk reaffirms its commitment in providing positive and meaningful change among Filipinas by bringing women empowerment right in the heart of the academe. Recently, Unilever Philippines, through the Cream Silk Girl Power Movement, signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the University of the Philippines granting scholarships to deserving female students enrolled in male-dominated courses.

Held at the Quezon Hall in the sprawling UP Diliman campus, the MOA signing was attended by no less than Gilbert Simpao, Unilever Philippines Managing Director for Beauty Cluster, and Dr. Sergio Cao, UP Chancellor. Both signed the MOA on behalf of their respective institutions. Also present were Jika Dalupan, Unilever Corporate Relations Director; Carlo Endaya, Unilever’s Marketing Manager for the Hair Category; Prof. Elizabeth Enriquez, UP Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs; and Dr. Bella Villanueva, Chief, UP Office of Scholarship and Student Affairs.

“We specifically chose UP because aside from its excellent academic programs, it is also known as the first educational institution in the country to recognize equality between men and women,” Simpao said.

In response, Dr. Cao expressed his gratitude for the support that Unilever is extending to their students. “I congratulate Unilever and its young and dynamic leaders for their willingness to change the lives of women. This endeavor is not just women empowerment but also family empowerment. By helping these women become achievers through the scholarship, we will be helping their families attain better lives in the process.”

The Cream Silk Girl Power Movement is envisioned to provide women from different sectors with opportunities to become achievers despite the various challenges they face. It reflects the brand’s character of bringing out the best in women. By equipping them with confidence gained through knowledge and skills, Cream Silk helps these women realize their goals.
