July Milestones

Longevity seems to be the theme for this month. A doting couple and a true gentleman certainly embody “living life to the fullest” as they achieve milestones that are rare these days.

Tropical showers came with his day. However, friends and family joined Atty. Democrito “Kito” Mendoza in his estate in Liloan for an evening of celebration, regardless of the weather. Blessed with 14 children, the 85-year-old celebrator was showered with love and honor by the entire Mendoza brood. Guests were treated to a bountiful buffet and live entertainment. Highlighting the affair were a handful of apos who offered their beloved grandpa musical numbers and the family’s video tribute to their patriarch. We’re looking forward to next year. Cheers!

Meanwhile, Mr. and Mrs. Liberato Tan proved that marriages do last. Celebrating 50 years of union, the couple renewed their vows in front of close relatives and friends at the Blessed Pedro Calungsod Chapel at the Archbishop’s Palace, with the Mass celebrated by Msgr. Achilles Dakay. Reception followed at the Waterfront’s Arctic Hall where the family surprised Lolo Lobing and Lola Taning with the Papaya dance—the couple’s favorite song. Here’s to 50 more years!
