CCCI inducts new set of officers

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, one of the most respected  and active civic organizations in the city, inducted a new set of officers and directors for the year 2008 at the Grand Ballroom of the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel, a popular venue for government and business events, cultural and social affairs.

Inducted  were  Edward Gaisano as President, Consul Samuel Chioson,  VP-Finance and administration services; Jay Yuvallos,  VP-Business Development and Management Services; Clarito Fruelda, VP- External Affairs and Relations; Ed Limtingco, VP- Membership and Development; Benjamin Avila,  Board Secretary;  Melanie Ng, Treasurer; and Deolito Alvarez as Legal Counsel.

Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) chairman, lawyer Miguel Varela was the guest of honor and speaker while PCCI Vice President Edgardo Lacson did the inducting ceremonies.

Also sworn into office were committee chairmen for various CCCI divisions. They are Francis Monera for Corporate Governance, Gerry Sta. Ana for Investment Promotions, Lito Fruelda for Legislative Affairs and Public Relations and Communications, Jose Soberano III for Infrastructure, Nelson Bascones for Trade Missions, Felix Taguian for Member Benefits and Services and Melanie Ng for Special Projects. The new members of the club are Debbie Dy of HSBC, Jun Saa of Robinland, Virgilio Carsido of Oceantown Properties and Mari Moya of Eastwood City.

Immediate club Past President Francis Monera of Cebu Holdings, who by the way is moving on to his new assignment as the Regional Governor of the PCCI to represent the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Region 7, likewise conferred Presidential Awards to individuals who significantly contributed to the successful conduct of the chamber projects such as the annual Cebu Business Month, Adopt-a-School Program, Coffee Break, Conversations on Business Issues and ISO Trainings and Seminars.

Also given Presidential Awards for their invaluable support in promoting the various programs and projects of CCCI were The FREEMAN, represented by Executive Lifestyle Editor Mayen Tan, Cebu Daily News, represented by publisher Eileen Mangubat, Philippine Daily Inquirer, represented by Irene Sino-Cruz, Sun Star Daily represented by Tita Caballes and, the Philippine Star, represented by this writer.

It is the Chamber’s earnest desire and goal to assist and facilitate the member’s needs with the end view of fostering Cebu business. The club continues to advance and protect the interest of the Cebuano business community through various programs, studies, advocacies, networking, researches, direct business matching, and other related endeavors.
