Red Alert at the International Women’s Day

- Bobit S. Avila -

At the twin treats during the celebration of International Women’s Day at the Ayala Center Cebu, purist couture designer Cary Santiago whipped up a commotion that surprised the fashion pack with a characteristically warrior woman show. But elsewhere, skin was still in for summer from labels of the highend Paseo Solana (popularly known as Ayala Expansion building). It popped up in see-thru fashion at such unexpected places as EP Espada and Chocolate— and red was the order of the day.

Sporty and flirty are very much pronounced at Milk and Co with footwear by Schu and Nike Women as models parade in zip front fitted oh-so-comfy sweatshirts. Crisp, clean and lean were the definite word from Regatta, Space, Bleach Catastrophe and Diego (with footwear by Schu) where scissoring added sizzle to pantaloons and cocktail dresses. Maldita and Topshop riffed on the classic looks with lapelled neckline on linen shirt and peacoat, respectively. Meanwhile the focus was on the gypsy prints at Mango and Promod.

“The strong color of red are all about flirtation,” once quipped red progenitor and legendary designer Valentino. “It’s like a wink of the eye.” Even red showed up on a Sony digital camera, an MP3 and a love book all from Sony Square. Without a doubt, a stylized treat for women of all ages.

Bravissimo!

M.A.C.>Models Association of Cebu  (high fashion print and runway agency) is now accepting enrollees for the MAC Summer Workshop.
