Bea Alonzo learns to enjoy work on ‘Start-Up PH’ set

STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

Award-winning actress and box-office queen Ms. Bea Alonzo is very flattered with the good words that Kapuso actor Alden Richards had for her.

She is very thankful to Alden whom she described as the head of the welcoming committee of GMA Network as Bea made her debut as a Kapuso actress in the remake of the Koreanovela “Start-Up” which premiered Monday.

During their taping for “Start-Up,” which lasted for seven months, Bea said it was Alden who always set the happy mood.

“I learned from Alden that I don’t need to be always serious on set. I can also enjoy even if I am working. I can be on a jolly mood and it’s better that way,” said Bea.

She admits doing “Start-Up” was a challenge for her since she is working under a new network. Comparing it to the time she began her acting career as a newcomer, she felt there was a need to prove herself as an actress.

“I was a teenager then and I was pressured because of the people’s expectations. I know deep in my heart that I have to make good to prove myself worthy of their respect and adulation,” Bea recalled.

Now that she’s already in her 30s, there was also the need to adjust because she is working with a different set of people. She has to be on her toes.

“I want them to feel comfortable working with me. I want to be the best version of myself and do well in my work. Now that I am starting again, I am enjoying every moment. Unlike in my younger years when I was working under the shadow of fear and pressure, I am enjoying my work this time because I choose not to feel the pressure but rather enjoy the moment. Now I have a second chance to start up again, now I know how to enjoy myself while working.”

“Start-Up PH” is directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng and Dominic Zapata.

Viva contract star Sean de Guzman was named best actor (for the month of August) for the movie “Fall Guy” at the Anatolian Film Awards held at Turkey.

This is the second international best actor citation for Sean for the Joel Lamangan film produced by 3:16 Media Network of Janilyn Carrillo and Bryan Dy of Mentorque Productions.

The jury selects a winner of best actor monthly. All monthly best actor winners are automatically nominated for the Golden Star Awards (The Best of the Best). The said films will be screened in Live Screening Gala where the members of the jury, critics, film scholars, and imminent personalities around the globe are present.

Monthly winners receive an AFA Laurel and their wins are announced in the official website. Films nominated in multiple categories may win multiple awards.

Direk Joel personally chose Sean to play the lead in “Fall Guy” which tells the story of an ambitious poor guy who wants to rub elbows with the rich so he befriended a group rich guys not knowing they will just use him as a “fall guy” when things go wrong. He was tortured and beaten up to admit doing a crime he did not do.

At the story conference of “Fall Guy,” Direk Joel said he believes Sean fits the role perfectly and predicts he can make him win an award for his performance. He was Sean’s director in his launching movie “Anak ng Macho Dancer” and in the controversial movie “Lockdown.”

“Ano Sa Palagay N’yo” or A.S.P.N. hosted by Ali Sotto and Pat. P Daza on NET25 is celebrating its first anniversary.

When asked why their program clicks with viewers, Pat P said it’s because their show brings good vibes every morning.

Ali said they make sure their regular viewers have their fill of good content since A.S.P.N. discusses a variety of topics every day.

“We consider it a great privilege that a lot of people watch us. Probably they adore our tandem because we are two outspoken women making our mark in a usually male-dominated time slot,” added Ali.

“We talk about hot issues in our program but we make it a point to discuss it in a way that our viewers will understand the issues better,” said Pat P.

They also added they try to make the discussion more in-depth.

Although there is a slight difference in age (we are not revealing figures, though), no generation gap exists between Ali and Pat P. And since they are both working mothers and have their roots in showbiz, they do get along well because they can relate to each other.

Ali says Pat P is her anti-aging pill because she makes her laugh and she loves people who make her laugh.

“Ano Sa Palagay N’yo?”(A.S.P.N.) starts its second year on October 18. It airs 8 to 10 am, Monday to Friday on NET25.
