Bb. Cebu 2020 Bea Gomez’s girlfriend gushes over her win
CEBU, Philippines — Beatrice Luigi Gomez’s girlfriend of five years took to her Instagram account not only to hail the newly crowned Binibining Cebu’s achievement, but to also acknowledge the village that it took to mold and produce the beauty queen.
Performance DJ Kate Jagdon, who Gomez has said to be responsible for convincing her to join pageants, posted the following on her social media: “Congratulations to the new Binibining Cebu 2020 Beatrice Luigi Gomez and the rest of her court, besting over 53 other candidates in the pageant held in Waterfront Cebu.”
“Your journey of finding true beauty, strength, bravery and being true to one’s self is an inspiration to every Cebuano and your advocacy about youth empowerment through sports is a shining example that there is always a way to make life better.”
She continued, “You’ve shown true humanity that many should emulate. You have come a long way, but I know this is only the beginning. Always remember I am always here to support you no matter what.”
Jagdon also thanked the officials of San Fernando, the municipality that 24-year-old Gomez represented, for “believing in her,” as well as the team behind the former athlete, led by Dexter Alazas of AD Model Management, Gari Son, Julia Gorg and Marva Regner Lalican.
“To our family, friends and the people who supported, who prayed, who rooted and congratulated her, thank you so much. You are the reason why she held her head high and continued to conquer her fears,” wrote Jagdon, who likewise made special mention of the candidates who helped calm down Gomez backstage.
“To everyone who is reading this, dreams really do come true, always believe in yourself, train and work hard in your passions and dreams.”
While Gomez is not the first Bb. Cebu candidate to reveal being lesbian during an interview on coronation night, she is the first to win a crown. In the pageant’s first edition in 2017, the representative of the municipality of Tabogon, Maria Izobel Taguiam, made international online headlines for telling the host of having a girlfriend after she was asked if she was in a relationship.
