How John Lloyd found another love at first bite

CEBU, Philippines - He has loved many before. He has been enamored by a number of them. But, it was different this time. He felt something stir inside him that made him profess his love like it was his first time.

Yes, John Lloyd Cruz, or JLC as he is sometimes fondly called, is in love and it’s not with a girl this time. It’s the recently launched Greenwich Pizza Thins’ Signature Special. At first bite, he was able to experience its crispy, cheesy goodness and savored the harmony of flavors that burst into his mouth. This all-toppings pizza flavor is the perfect combination of crispiness, cheesiness and meaty goodness.

“It is my favorite.  I am very proud of it. In my own personal words, the signature flavor of the pizza thins, ang pinakamasarap for me talaga,” JLC said in an interview with The Freeman during the product launching of the Greenwich Pizza Thins.

He stressed though that, “ultimately our products are not limited to our Pizza Thins. We have different flavors for different markets.”

The actor recalled his journey with Greenwich. It was an adventure of discovery, growth, awakenings and friendships that led to today, to his newfound love.

“When I started some six years ago, Greenwich was already a growing name and I was still new,” he revealed. JLC stressed that when he was asked to endorse the pizza brand, he was quite “humbled” because he was really “fairly new.”

“We started on that until we grew. Our partnership is special,” he added.

JLC also enthused that the great thing about his partnership with Greenwich is its “dynamism.”

“Our original target market was centered on the young adults – the barkada – just like Vince Cañizares, Lloyd Zarragoza, Mika Lagdameo and I. Then, we realized that we have a broad market, especially when you go to the stores. You see families and people of all ages,” he stated.

He also professed his appreciation and belief of Greenwich as it continues to grow and cater to its broad range of markets.

“Greenwich is a dynamic brand and product. It is aggressive and young and I really appreciate that,” the inimitable John Lloyd said.

Aside from the original Greenwich barkada headed by JLC, the Greenwich Pizza Thins brought on additional members to the troop. These are TV and radio personality Andi Manzano, model and entrepreneur Marco Lobregat and radio personality and host Gino Quillamor. Their addition to the group completes the image of the pizza brand’s new barkada, which embodies the fun-loving signature of Greenwich.

During the launch of Greenwich Pizza Thins in Cebu, JLC admitted that he found the new members of the barkada as a “pleasant surprise.” He said that although the original barkada was already getting quite close and has forged a strong bond of friendship, the new members “completed the experience” for all of them.

“I’m happy na part na sila sa barkada,” he shared with his signature smile.

Meanwhile, Greenwich Marketing director Luiz Velasco also revealed his admiration of and gratitude to John Lloyd. “He is more than an endorser. He is a true kabarkada because he believes in the brand and in the thing he endorses,” he said.

So, what does this mean for JLC and his new love? It just signals the continuation of a flavorful love story that started with his first single bite of the Greenwich Pizza Thins and is expected to blossom and grow into definitely so much more.
