"The Awesome Hunt" begins

CEBU, Philippines -    It was a night of celebrity sightings and great music during PURE Republiq’s Summer Party in Manila last March 26, when PLDT myDSL ambassador Rhian Ramos unveiled the participants to PLDT myDSL’s “The Awesome Hunt.”

“The Awesome Hunt,” a competition that pits 8 teams of famous and heavy Internet users against one another in their quest to come up with the most awesome online travel feature that will ignite anyone’s passion for adventure. In partnership with the Department of Tourism, the locations for each team’s journey is set in eight chosen cities where some of 200,000 additional myDSL lines have been installed to get more households hooked on broadband Internet.

“The Awesome Hunt” brings together a great cross-section of familiar faces with different passions. Fellow actors, Marco Alcaraz and Bela Padilla, will be tackling the historic city of Butuan while Myx VJ Ton Vergel de Dios and Ryza Cenon learn about the university town of Dumaguete. One of the Philippines’ most famous tech bloggers Jayvee Fernandez and actor Luis Alandy take on the challenges of covering Las Piñas, and mother-and-son showbiz personalities IC Mendoza and Dolly Anne Carvajal cover Laguna to get to the bottom of what makes it so special.

Rediscover Quezon City with blogger and famed Manila tour guide Carlos Celdran and columnist/chef China Cojuangco, and check out Marikina through the eyes of some of the hottest new TV personalities, Starstruck alumnus Steven Silva and noon time show host Daiana Menezes. Get familiar with Rizal as DJ Mojo Jojo of The Good Times fame and Between Bites blogger Jane Chua do the same, and race through Cavite with actor and heartthrob Mark Herras and 5-time champion car drifter Alex Perez. 

At stake? P50,000 per member of the winning team, a one-year free PLDT myDSL subscription, a free trip to a popular summer getaway from Cebu Pacific, a brand new Sony Vaio laptop and Sony Cybershot digital camera and a Pizza Party from Yellowcab Pizza Co.

“The Awesome Hunt” takes place on April 7, and PLDT myDSL subscribers may follow the teams’ progress via Watchpad (by visiting www.pldtwatchpad.com/awesomehunt) and vote for the best online travelogue from April 8 to 24. One lucky voter will be the recipient of a one-year free PLDT myDSL subscription, a free trip to a popular summer getaway from Cebu Pacific, a brand new Sony Vaio laptop and Sony Cybershot digital camera and a Pizza Party from Yellowcab Pizza Co. and a Php 50,000 cash prize to be given away by PLDT myDSL.

Gracing the launch were PLDT myDSL’s Head Gary Dujali and Senior Product Manager Ma. Myla C. Villanueva, and Head of PLDT Retail Business Group, Dan Ibarra.

Also present were Richard Tiu; Ever Bilena’s CEO Dioceldo Sy; showbiz personalities Phoemela Barranda, Bianca Valerio, Rissa Mananquil, and Fabio Ide, China CoJuangco, Chef Gino Gonzalez, French musician Julien Drolon, Rhian Ramos’ fellow PLDT Watchpad crew George Schulze and Media Room’s Managing Partners Toni Abad and Bing Ramillano among others.

DJ 3mil Angeles opened the night with a palatable current of dance music, while DJ Mark Nicosia collaborated with recording artist Amber Davis for the main act.
