Why Kris was asked to leave "Pilipinas, Win Na Win"
CEBU, Philippines - Kris Aquino didn’t quit but was asked to leave the noontime variety-game show “Pilipinas, Win na Win.”
She made this clarification in her Twitter page. “May I just clarify – I didn’t resign or quit. I was asked to leave Win to make room for new male hosts. I’m honest and humble enough to not lie about the true situation.”
She also revealed her plans while she awaits her new project for the network.
“Friday (Oct. 1) is my last day on Win na Win. It was a good work & learning experience for me, but it’s time to go. Shooting some commercials in the next few weeks but Dalaw script still going through revisions so I’m gonna give myself some time to de-stress, de-compress and pray. Doing my version of Eat Pray Love, mine is Exercise Pray Heal.”
Meanwhile, an official of ABS-CBN on Tuesday revealed a group of new hosts of “Pilipinas, Win na Win” following Kris Aquino’s announcement that she is leaving the network’s noontime program.
The “Hitmakers,” composed of Rico J. Puno, Rey Valera, Marco Sison and Nonoy Zuñiga, will join Pokwang and Valerie Concepcion on Oct. 2, said Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications, in an official statement.
Osorio also confirmed that Aquino’s last day on the show is on Oct. 1.
“Management has decided to try a combination of new hosts for the program…. The program continues to bring fun, games and hope to Filipinos around the world,” he said.
While the “Hitmakers” are no longer active in the Philippine showbiz scene, their concerts are a big success among kababayans or Pinoys abroad. By putting them into the noontime show, showbiz pundits say this could ensnare anew The Filipino Channel (TFC) subscribers. “Wowowee,” the predecessor of “Win Na Win,” was the favorite ABS-CBN show of TFC subscribers.
“Pilipinas, Win na Win,” for its part, failed to rate ever since it took over the timeslot of “Wowowee.”
