Miriam Quiambao opens up on failed marriage, dating again & new career as actress

- Ricky L. Calderon -

Former Miss Universe first runner-up Miriam Quiambao wants to be more active in her newfound acting career. At the presscon of the movie “Patient X” (a joint project of GMA Films, Viva Films and R GUTZ Productions of Richard Gutierrez), the former beauty queen expressed gratitude to her manager, Ms. Annabelle Rama, for getting her good projects. She has expressed elation at how Ms. Rama is taking good care of her career. After starring in the hit comedy flick “Kimi Dora,” Miriam lands another good role in “Patient X,” directed by Yam Laranas. This is her first dramatic assignment and first appearance  in a horror flick as well.

Miriam says it’s just fine with her to do supporting roles, like in “Patient X” where she plays a nurse taking care of Patient X to save the lives of the people in the hospital where she works.

“I admit I am newcomer in the world of acting and given the chance to do supporting roles, I also do my best. I give what I can to do justice to the role. If ever I’d be given a chance to do a lead role in the future, which is the ultimate dream of any star who has tried acting, I’d consider that a blessing. I hope such opportunity would come my way and I’d be very grateful if that happens,” says the beautiful Miriam.

The former co-host of Paolo Bediones in the defunct show “Extra Challenge” shed tears at her interview with Boy Abunda at The Buzz last Sunday. Miriam finally talked about her failed marriage. While she said she was not a battered wife, Miriam admitted being a victim of verbal and emotional abuse. She also admitted that a third party caused the breakup of her marriage. It was her husband who wanted a divorce.

The hearing for the divorce was finished and Miriam is just waiting for the decision of the Hong Kong court regarding the divorce. She is also set to file an annulment of her marriage in Manila.

“Now that the hearing was over, I feel that I can really move on. It was one big thorn removed from my back so I really feel I am on a fresh start. It was a fresh start when I moved here in the Philippines after I stayed in Hong Kong for two and a half years. Now I am really off to a fresh start because I can already leave the past behind. I can  now move forward, focus on my career and have a happy and wonderful life,” adds Miriam in our interview with her.

She adds that both she and husband felt relieved that the hearings were over. They were okay. They called each other during their respective birthdays. Of course, they were both sad that their marriage did not last long but they are grateful for the two and half years that they were together. In the end, they wished each other the best and live a happy life.

But Miriam says she’s not yet ready to fall in love and neither is she thinking of marriage.

”I am not ready to fall in love. And I am also not ready to get married. I want to focus on my career first. I want to take my time unlike before that I was kind of impulsive and easily jumped into marriage. Not this time around. Kaya ngayon I am really taking my time to know people.
