Vic Sotto's film with Thai star holds successful premiere

PLUS: Ely Buendia's band Pupil is Channel [V] Artist of the Month; Crooner Richard Poon's latest album sweeps music charts

The latest Vic Sotto starrer titled “Love on Line,” which pairs him with international model and Thai star Paula Taylor, had a very successful premiere showing held Sunday at the SM Megamall Cinema 10.

The premiere was graced by the entire cast, headed by Vic and Paula, the lead stars of the comedy flick produced by OctoArts, M-ZEt Productions and APT Entertainment.

Also at the jampacked premiere were the other stars of the film, namely; Melissa Ricks, Matt Evans and Jose Manalo. The emcee acknowledged the presence of award-winning actress Ms. Gina Pareno, but we didn’t get to see her amidst the huge crowd.

Bossing Vic came with his ladylove Ms. Pia Guanio, while his son Oyo Boy Sotto came with rumored girlfriend Kristine Hermosa.

The movie was entertaining and had the audience roaring with laughter with the funny antics of Vic and Jose who sure make an interesting comic tandem. They play brothers in the film.

“Love on Line,” helmed by box-office director Tony Y. Reyes, opens today in major theaters nationwide.

Before the screening of “Love on Line,” a teaser of Vic’s forthcoming film titled “Ang Darling Kong Aswang” was shown. The film is Vic’s entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival in December.

Highly acclaimed Filipino rock band Pupil is Channel [V] Philippines VIP (short for Very Important Pinoy) Artist of the Month for August, 2009.
The multi-awarded group composed of Ely Buendia as frontman, Yan Yuzon on lead guitar, Dok Sergio on bass and Wendell Garcia on drums will be showcased by Channel [V] Philippines in a series of features, interviews and performances throughout the month.
Pupil recently celebrated its fourth anniversary as a band with the release of “Wildlife: Special Edition,” a follow through of the band’s highly successful second album “Wildlife” which was released in 2007.
The Wildlife album was eventually chosen as the 2008 Album of the Year at the NU Rock Awards where Pupil also received Artist of the Year, Producer of the Year, Drummer of the year and Best in Music Video awards.
Since the release of the band’s second album, Pupil has enjoyed greater mainstream success. The band has also played in other countries such as Singapore, Qatar, and Dubai.

Pupil’s “Wildlife: Special Edition” album includes massive hits like “Sala,” “Monobloc,” and “Teacher’s Pet,” as well as, their latest single “Different Worlds.” The special edition album also contains a 5-track acoustic set of the “Eye in the Big Sky” and 3 of the album’s original demo. The album is currently available in CDs under the Sony Music label.

Xavier University and Xavier Center for Culture and the Arts (XCCA) through its Museo de Oro will hold “Pasidungog: a tribute to President Cory Aquino Champion of Democracy” on August 20 – September 5, 2009, at the Museo de Oro Art Gallery. This art exhibit features portrait sketches and photos of the late Cory Aquino and “The Veritas” newspaper collection. All these are works and private collections of Mr Nonoy Estarte.

Exhibit opens on August 29, 2009, 3:00pm at Museo de Oro 3rd floor lobby. There will be a short program prior to the ribbon cutting, and cocktails will be served.
