VUDU turns 8 this Sinulog

-

January always marks two important milestones for VUDU: the annual Sinulog celebration, to which Vudu hosts power-packed parties for local and foreign revelers and Vudu's birthday. The year 2009 ushers in Vudu's 8th anniversary as the preeminent night lifestyle destination in Cebu and perhaps in the whole of Visayas and Mindanao.

To mark the eternal eight cycle of its existence, Vudu recently underwent a major renovation and its reemergence is a tribute to the Cebuano ingenuity, focusing on aesthetics and fusing together the different aspects of Cebu's creative industries. The new design is by Kaz Martinez Onozawa and architect and environmental planner Joy Martinez-Onozawa of Environmental Designs Inc. Onozawa kept form and functionality in mind and his design was inspired by Kenneth's Cobonpue's invaluable inputs on what would work best in the existing space.

Vudu accents and furnishings are from some of Cebu's furniture and accessories companies such as the main chandelier by Proteus Inc., hanging lamps and accents by Hive and Avatar and mirrors and wall fixtures by Detalia Aurora. The only thing that remains from when Vudu first opened in 2001 is the distinct mural by artist Jon Unson. Staff uniforms are by young designer Vania Romoff and a new menu has been developed by Chef Miguel Martinez.

Vudu's evolution continuously raises the bar in the industry and shapes the city's night scene. JP Chiongbian, CEO and the brains and visionary behind Vudu, says "Vudu's resiliency stems from having the foresight to predict and identify the latest trends, offering Cebuanos what they need, good service and value for money." Jay Chiongbian, Vudu's new CFO/COO also adds, "We're not only here to give Cebu a good night scene but also to show the rest of the Philippines and the foreign tourists that Cebu is a growing cosmopolitan city that is continuously on the upswing and Vudu tries to exemplify this characteristic by giving services and amenities of world-class standards"

To celebrate this milestone, Vudu is proud to present this year's lineup for the Sinulog and anniversary parties dubbed as THE BIG 8.

To kick off the weekend this Friday, January 16, Embassy Superclub's resident RnB DJ Johnny Verse aka Jon Herrera heats up the Main Room along with Cebu's very own DJ Kutlyfe while Vudu resident DJ Maxie Perez and Cebu's premier club DJ Marlon Orellano spin house at the Privé Lounge. On Saturday, January 17, the illustrious Natural Born Klubbers' (NBK) triumvirate Nicky Jurado, Bombi Balquiedra and Manolet Dario, pioneers in the Philippines house music scene will play a variety of pumping big room house, electro and mixes. On Sunday, January 18, Cebu's most anticipated celebration - Sinulog - will be capped off by performances by no less than Manila's LOCAL//:e! featuring live electronica music by Neon8, Silverfilter and couchLab.

In its eight years, Vudu has indeed established itself as a local brand, one that Cebu can call its own and truly be proud of. It has become a local landmark and institution to domestic and foreign visitors.

Vudu is located at the Crossroads, Banilad, Cebu City and is open daily for happy hour, dinner and after hours from 5:30 p.m. onwards. Vudu is also the ideal venue for private functions, exclusive parties, product launches, company events and social gatherings.
