Ako Si Kim Samsoon:  Korea’s Best Now A Kapuso

-

As part of the network’s 58th anniversary celebration, GMA proudly presents television’s first-ever Pinoy adaptation of a Koreanovela with Ako si Kim Samsoon that is set to tickle the hearts of the Kapuso viewers this June.

Premiered June 30 on GMA Telebabad, Ako Si Kim Samsoon is out to make the viewers roll with laughter as it boasts of a different kind of story about love, family and beauty spiced up with a star-studded cast that certainly fits the taste of Filipinos.  Ako si Kim Samsoon is the adaptation of the funniest and award-winning Koreanovela My Name is Kim Sam Soon that became a hit on television in 2006 here and around the world, which was originally produced by MBC and Telesuccess Productions, Inc in 2005.

No less than the Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, whose romantic-comedy films were all blockbuster hits, plays the much-coveted huggable and lovable character of Kim Samsoon Buot, a baker-turned-pastry chef in her late-30s who is bound to unveil that love knows no age, shapes nor sizes.

Joining Regine in this hilarious primetime series are Mark Anthony Fernandez as Cyrus, the handsome but snooty owner of the five-star restaurant and Wendell Ramos as Harvey, the weak-willed ex-fiance of Sam Soon together with Nadine Samonte as Hannah, the beautiful ex-fiance’ and first love of Cyrus; Eugene Domingo as Chef Dina, the restaurant’s head chef; Carmi Martin as Mrs. Ruiz, the haughty mother of Cyrus, John Lapus as Marcus, the secretary of Mrs. Ruiz and Ms. Tessie Tomas as Sonia, Sam Soon’s war-freak but loving mother.

Completing the bitter-sweet sometimes spicy life of Sam Soon are Jennica Garcia, Mart Escudero, Pauleen Luna, Maureen Larrazabal, Sheena Halili, Dr. Hayden Kho, Mel Kimura, Marcus Madrigal, Dido dela Paz, Marky Lopez, Arthur Solinap, Kevin Santos, Stef Prescott, and Cheska Eugenio.

With director Dominic Zapata and Khryss Adalia at the helm, the story begins with Samsoon dealing with two devastating news- when her fiance’ stood her up in their wedding and their family’s bakery was razed by fire. Samsoon then decides to apply as a pastry chef in a five-star restaurant where she crosses paths with the rich and arrogant Cyrus in a very unusual spot –the male comfort room where he gives her a piece of advice about love and men. Not long after, Cyrus will discover Samsoon’s outstanding talent in baking and hires her to work in his restaurant.

Cyrus, on the other hand, has his problems too. Her domineering mother insists that he marries soon. To relieve of her mother’s consistent prodding Cyrus offers Samsoon a “love contract” acting as his girlfriend in exchange for a huge amount of money.  Cyrus offered Samsoon the contract because he knows he will never fall for a girl like Samsoon. Although hesitant and furious about his boss’ overconfidence, Samsoon takes the opportunity to pay her family’s debts.

Are they both brave enough to face the consequences of the love contract? Will their plan still work even if their ex-fiancé’s – Hannah and Harvey enter the picture? Can a gorgeous guy like Cyrus fall for a plump, boisterous girl like Samsoon?

The plot is made more memorable with Regine’s version of “Maybe Its You,” the original theme song of the tagalized Koreanovela My Name Kim Sam Soon that became a hit on Philippine TV in 2006. Also catch Regine in her fat-belly suit which was specially produced for her for this show.

Catch the primetime’s most gigantic romantic-comedy series after Dyesebel on GMA Telebabad.
