R U JOLOGS?!

GMA NEWS AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS RECENTLY LAUNCHED A PROGRAM WITH A DEFINITELY CATCHY, AND TO A POINT, QUITE CONTROVERSIAL TITLE - "JOLOGS GUIDE."

What exactly is jologs? Once considered a derogatory term, "Jologs Guide" now focuses on the positive side of jologs - being practical, being true to one's self and having a good attitude in spite of an empty pocket. People behind the program believe all Pinoys have a touch of jologs in them, regardless of their social class.

Hosted by three certified jologs - Ethel Booba, Rainier Castillo and Pekto, "Jologs Guide" is an infotainment show like no other currently airing on Philippine TV. It combines comedy with information in such a hilarious way that one hardly notices he/she is also learning something new.

Inspired by the success of the Dummies and Idiot's Guidebook series, the show serves as a handbook for the jologs in all of us. It's a practical guide to Pinoy living - informing viewers about everything, from how to act at a fancy dinner party to how to ride an elevator or use the ATM. It also serves as a platform for the jologs audience to be heard and for the jologs in all of us to be discovered.

The show even comes with a catchy reggae theme and matching "Jologs Guide" dance-step!

For its pilot episode last week, Ethel Booba visited various experts to find out what the term "jologs" really means - tricycle drivers, UP professors, TV personality Jolina Magdangal, and even Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye!

The hosts then talked about how they made it big by being jologs. For the first time, the three shared the secrets behind their success, and the jologs traits that helped them on their way up.

For the ultimate jologs test - the "Jologs Guide" hosts, together with high society gurus Tessa Prieto-Valdes and Tim Yap, mixed with the predominantly elite crowd at a fashion show.

And for this Sunday, it is going to be English 101 courtesy of the crazy and wacky Jologs trio.

According to Ethel, had it only been for herself, she would have never bothered to improve on her English. After all, she has already made a mark in the industry with her inability to speak English properly. But for the love of her loyal Jologs fans, Ethel is now more than willing to learn to speak proper English.

Definitely not to be outdone are Rainier and Pekto, who took the challenge of enrolling themselves into an English Speaking class together with the sexy, but very much "Ethel-like," Baywalk Beauties. Now, this is something definitely not easy for the ears, as personally experienced by their English teacher.

After their English 101, the Jologs trio takes on the challenge of the real world as they try to land a job that requires them to speak fast and fluent English! Will Rainier make it as a Call Center Agent? Will Pekto be accepted as a hotel receptionist? As for Ethel, will she be able to give the right directions as a professional tour guide?!

So are you Jologs? Or still in doubt? Whichever, be sure to tune in every Sunday at 7:30 pm and explore the world of Pinoy Jologs on GMA Network's "Jologs Guide."
