Harley Davidson 2012, Core+ 2018 return to SHAABAA division finals

CEBU, Philippines — Reigning champions Harley Davidson Batch 2012 and Core+ Batch 2018 completed a two-game sweep of their rivals to book a return trip to the division finals in the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Season 29 at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles Arena in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.

Dave Wilson Yu recorded an 18-point,18-rebound double-double with four assists, two steals and a block while Adven Jess Diputado also chalked up 18 points with seven rebounds and eight assists as Batch 2012 knocked out Nest Workspaces Batch 2013, 75-67, to stay on course for back-to-back crowns in Division B.

Julius Cadavis added 17 points and 15 rebounds with two assists for Batch 2012, which will take on the Hatch IT Solutions Batch 2010 in the best-of-three finals starting Sunday, July 12.

Batch 2010 advanced after seeing off ‘04 For the Win Batch 2004, 79-76, behind the deadly one-two punch of Gabe Branzuela and Jasper Diaz. Branzuela fired 29 points with four boards and six dimes, while Diaz bagged 22 points with 14 rebounds in a solid double-double show.

In Division C, Batch 2018 moved one step closer towards defending their throne after booting out FADI Batch 2021 in decisive fashion, 101-75.

Benedict Andre Chua led a balanced offensive performance by Batch 2018 with 22 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Christian Manaytay scored 16 with six rebounds and five assists, Patrick Wilson Yu posted a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds with five assists while Lyder Kent Canieso and Andrew Vincent Velasco tallied 12 markers apiece to drag Batch 2018 into a title clash with BRX Batch 2015, which advanced to the championship after finishing off Batch 2014, 84-68.

Lorenzo Otero paced Batch 2015 with 23 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists. Chaz Cokaliong, Janjan Jaboneta and Anton Chua complemented Otero’s effort with 35 combined points.
