CEBU, Philippines —  The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. Micro-Finance Inc.  (RAFI MFI) has expanded its livelihood training program to other provinces in the Visayas.

Residents in Iloilo, Dumaguete and Baybay Leyte can now have the chance to learn, earn, and have a sustainable livelihood following the partnership of and its academe partners-Negros Oriental State University, Central Philippine University and Visayas State University.

“We agreed to collaborate and establish the Sustainable Livelihood Training Program (SLTP), where we will provide support services through training of our targeted clients and enhance their skills based on marketable skills within the locality or outside the community,” said Jonar B. Dorado, RAFI MFI chief operations officer.

According to Dorado the partnership with the academe would provide the free use of their facilities for the project and provide the resource speakers on certain fields of expertise.

RAFI MFI, on the other hand, will provide an online platform, which can be accessed through designated learning hub facilities. This platform will contribute to providing the learning modules and ensure that the project will be up to the RAFI MFI standards.

Beneficiaries who will avail of the program, can try their hand at learning more skills that they can use to improve their livelihood such as cookery, food preparation, and even in agriculture among others.

Aside from providing clients, who availed of the program with physical resources like brochures and training materials, RAFI MFI will also provide successful trainees access to financial resources.

With this partnership in essence, beneficiaries can learn more business skills for them to earn and have a sustainable livelihood and improve their entrepreneurship skills which they can use to improve their businesses.

Aside from that, the livelihood program RAFI MFI also makes sure that targeted clients will be able to train and learn amid the pandemic especially since those, who availed of the program, can have access to the digital platforms.

The partnership is also in line with RAFI MFI’s “Bugsay philosophy” of helping individuals to help themselves by providing them with the “bugsay” or paddle or the tools to improve their lives.

In this case, RAFI MFI and its academe partners are providing education that can help clients and beneficiaries build a better business and livelihood.

Tools that an empowered individual can use to steer his or her life to a better future.

The RAFI-MFI) provides financial and non-financial services to micro-entrepreneurs with a mission of elevating lives of the vulnerable and disadvantaged communities through stable and rewarding livelihood.
