CEBU, Philippines — Jobseekers, this is your chance.

Over a thousand jobs abroad are up for grabs in the upcoming overseas jobs fair at the Capitol Social Hall in Cebu City this January 27.

In a phone interview yesterday, Julius Chua of the Capitol's Public Employment Services Office (PESO) said most of the vacancies are skilled jobs.

Available jobs include factory worker, hotel staff, restaurant waiter, nurse, sales professional, and teacher, among other skilled jobs, said Chua, who heads the upcoming job hiring event.

The countries of these jobs include Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Taiwan, Singapore, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and Papua New Guinea, among others.

"We have around 28 participating licensed job hiring agencies," Chua told The FREEMAN.

Chua urged Cebuanos who seek employment overseas to join the job fair.

He added there will also be a one-stop shop various government agencies such as NBI, PSA, SSS, Philhealth, LTO, PRC, Provincial Prosecutor and Capitol Medical Team.

All job applicants are advised to register at the PESO office with their updated resume or bio-data; college diploma and transcript of record (if college graduate); 2×2 pictures (colored or black and white); employment certificate (if there’s any); and high school diploma (if high school graduate).

Earlier, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) said that Japan I  particular is in need of around 345,000 foreign workers to fill in vacancies in 14 industries.

Japan is implementing a new employment track to attract foreigners, where workers would have the opportunity to bring their families to Japan and gain an "immigrant status".

This new employment track is called "specified skilled worker visa".

According to POEA, this is different from the Technical Internship Training Program (TITP), where an applicant is deployed as a trainee.

Most of the jobs needed in Japan are skilled including care work, food service industry, construction, agriculture, manufacture of food and beverages, accommodation industry, building cleaning management, machine parts and tooling, and industrial machinery, among others.
