Everything we do has its consequences

LIFE'S ESSENCE - Katherine R. Oyson - The Freeman

In the book, "Living Water, 2009,” a certain Annie shared this story: "We left at 6:30 a.m. that Sunday for our weekly mission trip. But before long we heard something snap. Our car then went to a full stop. Nobody knew what it was, so we called a mechanic. It turned out that the vehicle timing belt broke. I couldn’t believe it because  I just had it recently changed to a brand new one. It only proved one thing: the person who was supposed to change the  timing belt did not do his task. The mechanic confirmed this and told us what the problem was.

"I felt sad for the person who did it to us. He did not realize the consequence of what he had done. Everything we do has its consequences, whether good or bad.”

Recently, one of the tenants in our apartment complained that the sub-meter in the adjoining room had a weird noise.  True indeed, when the electrician inspected, he found out that the former electrician who installed the sub-meter did not do his task well.  Thank God that the tenant reported the problem immediately, otherwise, unthinkable consequence would have happened.

Some of us may not realized that the things that we do have its own consequences. Like when one would enter into the “game of infidelity,”  one is endangering the stability and harmony of the family; or when one  is dishonest in his/her work, the danger of being terminated is lurking in the corner because it will be found out sooner or later whether one likes it or not; or when one is addicted to vices, sooner or later it will have a bad consequence, either on his/her health or finances.

According to  Melissa  of “loverevolutionblog.com website,"  our actions and their consequences shape our future. Every action causes a consequence either long-term or short-term.  Some consequences can change our lives for the better or for worst. Therefore, it is important  to remember that we cannot escape from the consequences of our actions. We create our destiny day after day, decision after decision, and action after action.”

Robert Green Ingersoll once said, “In nature there are neither rewards or punishments: there are consequences.”

How should we deal life with our actions and decisions? Our sources cite the following perspectives:

Therefore, take the kind of actions that will lead you to the place you want to be, and will bring you the kind of things you would like to get. We have right now, in this very moment the opportunity to create the life we want, we can start  shaping the future we yearn, and we do that with every choice and action that we do.

Whatever you want to experience tomorrow, start creating it now. When we make an action that won’t produce a favorable consequence, we are at risk in losing very valuable things in our lives.

Take actions that will produce the consequences you would like to experience and you will have the opportunity to live the life you have always imagined!
