Tech startup pioneers digital laundry service

CEBU, Philippines - A Cebu tech startup is pioneering a digital laundry service, targeting the busy, on-the-go professionals.

eLocker, founded this year, is introducing a locker-based laundry service where clients can just drop off and pick up their laundry at the lockers.

The process, which includes placing an order, payment and setting laundry preferences is done online or through SMS.

Randy Lo Piramide, founder and CEO, said this is a testament to the notion that technology can make day-to-day tasks like laundry more convenient.

Currently, eLocker has a set of 10 lockers located in Mariners Court, Cebu City.

Piramide told the press on Saturday they are eyeing to put up 20 sets of lockers within the year in strategic areas such as condominiums, apartments, gas stations and malls.

He added they would communicate with these establishments for possible partnerships for the 24/7 digital venture.

eLocker currently has Laba Masters laundry shop, which Piramide owns, as sole laundry partner but it is planning to partner with other laundry shops.

The tech startup currently has a website to accept transactions but is working on an app for the service targeted to done within this month or next.

Piramide admitted the startup currently has no formal investors, saying it's only getting support through 'informal' investments from close friends.

The concept of eLocker is deemed to be the first in the country. — (FREEMAN)
