CEBU, Philippines - Wireless services provider Digitel Mobile Philippines, Inc., (DMPI) through its mobile brand Sun Cellular, has more than doubled the coverage of its mobile broadband service in the Philippines, bringing fast and reliable Internet connection to more Filipinos in the country.

With the expanded coverage of Sun Broadband in far-flung provinces such as Ilocos Norte in the North and Tawi-tawi in the South, subscribers will now have better Internet usage experience from one of  the major mobile broadband providers in the country.

With this recent network expansion, Sun Broadband now covers majority of the provinces in the Philippines as the telecom firm benefits from increased infrastructure coordination with sister company Smart Communications, Inc.

“We are working to provide one of the most extensive mobile broadband networks in the country today so we can give more Filipinos the opportunity to experience first-hand the benefits of  broadband, as many of our subscribers have personally experienced with our service,” said Charles Lim, Executive Vice President and Head of Wireless Consumer Business Group at Sun Cellular.

Majority of these expanded coverage areas are located in Mindanao where a number of new provinces have been added to Sun Broadband’s service areas, including the likes of Bukidnon, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sarangani and North Cotabato.

Sun Broadband has also extended its reach to include areas such as Guimaras, Samar Islands, Masbate, and Siquijor in the Visayas, as well as Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, Mindoro Islands, Romblon, and Sorsogon in Southern Luzon.

Residents of and travelers to the Northern part of Luzon will also experience the boost in Sun Broadband’s expanded coverage in 14 more provinces, including Abra, Apayao, Aurora, Ilocos Sur, Isabela, Kalinga, La Union, Mountain Province and Nueva Vizcaya, among others.

The telco’s recent broadband network expansion efforts complement earlier initiative to boost its 3G signal in Mindanao, as well as improve its overall mobile coverage in the Visayas.

“We have seen the importance of broadband Internet in the lives of many Filipinos today as they use this technology to communicate with one another, push for their advocacies through social media, or coordinate relief efforts in times of disasters,” Lim said.

“With our expanded broadband coverage across the country, more Filipinos can count on Sun Broadband to deliver reliable services wherever they are in the Philippines,” he added.

Sun Broadband currently offers one of the most affordable broadband plans in the Philippines with the Sun Broadband Plan 799, which offers unlimited Internet usage at the most affordable rate in the country today.

For those who want to get on the tablet lifestyle, Sun Broadband offers a number of  bundles via its Gadget Plans offering, which offers the Alcatel Evo 7 on Plan 350, the CobyKyros 8065 or the MyPhoneMyPad 2 on Plan 450, or the Alcatel T7 HD and the Acer Iconia B1 on Plan 600. These plans come with a predefined number of free Internet hours per month but has an Anti-Bill Shock feature which automatically converts the Internet plan to unlimited once usage reaches P999.
