Ng Khai Group opens URL resto bar

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu’s lucrative environment for entertainment business, prompted the Ng Khai Group to expand the “Lakwatsa Resto Lounge”, by opening another resto bar called “URL Resto” to cater the growing night-life clientele.

Ng Khai Group president Wilson Ng said in an interview that while the Lakwatsa Resto Lounge is specifically designed as a night-out destination facility, being the first cultural restolounge in Cebu, the URL Resto on the other hand, takes care of the walk-in night owls, and the smaller group of tourists coming in to see the modernized cultural show featured at Lakwatsa.

“We noticed that there is also a growing demand from big groups, and exclusive events for the Lakwatsa Resto Lounge, because of this we can no longer accommodate the small groups of walk-ins who may want to enjoy a different night-out entertainment, thus, we opened the URL [U are at Lakwatsa] resto bar,” said Ng in an interview.

While the bigger Lakwatsa Restolounge is more on the exclusive events. URL will accommodate the daily customer-base, providing trendy and upbeat ambiance, offering an entertainment mix of cultural to live bands, and others.

Aside from the walk-in tourists, Ng said that the company noticed an increasing clientele-base for night-out services, like restobars in Cebu, as an immediate way for de-stressing, and relaxing escape for busy professionals.

Besides, he said the night life industry in Cebu is also benefiting from the improving purchasing power of Cebuanos saying, now more Cebuanos such as the young professionals can afford to unwind and eat out after work.

Ng Khai’s entry to the tourism sector through the opening of its Lakwatsa Restolounge last year, signified Cebu’s fertile ground for tourism related business. However, since Lakwatsa offers non-traditional entertainment facility, with cultural touch in it, Ng said Lakwatsa has difficulty of sustaining its daily operation, considering that it is highly designed for the tourists market.

“Cebu is not yet known for dinner shows,” he said adding that the opening of URL resto bar will sustain the company’s initial entry to the tourism and entertainment business.

URL Resto offers brief dinner cultural show on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. While on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays the bar features acoustics and live bands.
