KRL - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Goodyear Philippines unveiled its range of high-performance products to the Cebu-based High Performance Car Clubs at the organization’s gathering held last Thursday, July 18 at the Quest Hotel Conference Center in Cebu City.  Present during the event were Mr. Ron Castro, Goodyear’s Managing Director for the Philippines and Distributor Markets and representatives from the different car clubs in Cebu.

Showcased to the Club as proof of Goodyear’s continued commitment to bring the best of Goodyear’s legacy of innovation and technology to the Ultra High Performance (UHP) segment were tire products such as the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 and the Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 is built for sophisticated drivers who seek driving comfort more than speed, and the Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5 is built for driving enthusiasts who want stylish performance for their aftermarket-tuned sports cars, sporty coupes and performance cars.

“For 115 years, Goodyear has led in tire technology, innovation and safety. One of the competitive advantages of Goodyear around the world is that we invest heavily in designing tires that address real world consumer needs.  From inception, to commercialization, to manufacturing, to market – the focus is always on putting the customer first,” said Castro.

What started out as a product presentation turned into an interactive and very informative discussion on tire performance, maintenance and care headed by Mr. William Villamizar, Goodyear Technical Project Leader from the Innovation Center in and Colmar-Berg, Luxembourgh.  When asked what the best tires are for a specific make and model of a vehicle, Mr. Villamizar explained that the tires that any vehicle leaves the dealership with is the best fit tires.  He pointed out that the settings of the vehicle (shocks, suspension, etc.) are preset to the specifications agreed by the car manufacturer and the tire supplier.  Mr. Villamizar explained the extensive process of vehicle manufacturers going back and forth with tire companies, providing technical data and discussing tire specifications best suited for existing and upcoming models.

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is one of the world’s largest tire companies, employing approximately 69,000 people and manufactures its products in 52 facilities in 22 countries around the world.   Its two Innovation Centers in Akron, Ohio and Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg strive to develop state-of-the-art products and services that set the technology and performance standard for the industry.

Goodyear Philippines is a leader in the Philippine tire industry. It stays “One Revolution Ahead” through forward-thinking innovation that can be seen in the Company’s portfolio of high performance passenger and commercial tires and services.  With the widest dealership network in the country, consisting of 110 dealer partners nationwide, the company is redefining the industry to make Goodyear the number one choice for Filipino motorists who value high performance, reliability and safety.

Goodyear Philippines is also committed to improving road safety. This is achieved through sustained campaigns and partnerships that promote safety on the road, such as motorist education programs on tire safety and maintenance, and through an annual search for ordinary public utility drivers turned “heroes of the road” called “BayaningKalsada”.

The event closed with Goodyear offering special discounts and deals on their different performance tires to the different car clubs in Cebu. (FREEMAN)
