Translation firm offers services to exporters

- Ehda Dagooc - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - British translation company Lingo24 is bent on maximizing its presence in the Philippines, by offering its expertise to local companies, specifically to the exporters for them to effectively communicate to their target markets around the world.

Lingo24 founder Christian Arno said the export sector in the country, specifically those in Cebu, could take advantage of the company’s presence in making the content of their different marketing collaterals translated into different languages, depending on the target country.

Arno said exporters in the Philippines now need to embrace the emerging trend of using local languages in each country in order to reach out to clients.

This will also boost the local operation of Lingo24 in the Philippines, as the company noted an increasing interest of Filipino exporters wanting to outsource their translation needs for their marketing collaterals, and website content converted to different languages all over the world.

Studies have shown that usage of English in different Internet contents have declined significantly over the years. Today, only 27 percent of the total website contents are in English. More and more Internet contents are using specified language content to specified market.

Usage of Arabic language on the Internet has grown by 2,500 percent in the last few years, the same with the usage of Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, and Chinese languages.

This development will boost the translation outsourcing industry all over the world, and in the Philippines, exporters will have to embrace on this trend. At the same time, local companies serving local markets will also apply this development using the local dialect of their target regions or provinces all over the country.

Initially, Arno said Lingo24 will provide translation services for Cebuano (Bisaya), Ilonggo, and Tagalog, depending on the needs of local companies, as well as foreign companies which may want to target the different regions in the Philippines.

Lingo24 is one of world’s fast growing translation firms, which has operations in Europe and United States.

Lingo24 is serving translation requirement of big organizations such BBC (British Broadcasting Company) MTV, Burger King, among others.

Although, the translation outsourcing is still new in the Philippine outsourcing industry, Arno believes that the country can leverage on this particular service because of the quality of manpower the country has.

Lingo24 established its first Asia-based office in Cebu last year, to serve its growing number of clients from all over the world.

Aside from its inter-Asia clients, Arno said the opening of an Asian headquarter was an immediate need for the company, while growing clients of Lingo24 around the world are demanding for contents to be translated to different Asian languages, such as Chinese (Mandarin), Korean, and Japanese, and importantly high English proficiency.

Lingo24 is a leading and fast growing translation agency providing translation services to London-based and other organizations around the world, established 10 years ago in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The company also has operations in the United States, Germany, Romania, China, and New Zealand.  (FREEMAN)
