Sun Cellular, HP work on data management

Sun Cellular, the latest player in the mobile services industry, and Hewlett Packard, a leading global provider of computing and imaging solutions and services, have announced a multimillion-peso contract to deliver technical expertise and consulting services in data warehouse architecture, deployment and management.

The partnership would enable Sun Cellular to effectively manage data, allowing it to better attain and sustain a competitive edge over other industry players.

Hewlett Packard (HP) is an IT powerhouse whose offerings range from infrastructure, personal computing, access devices to global services, imaging and printing.

Charles Lim, head of Digitel’s GSM Business Unit, said, "Data management is of key importance to us, simply because we place high value on customer relations. There’s no room for data loss in the telecommunications industry."

"We need a data storage system that could scale easily and provide error-free, back-up procedures. This is primarily the reason why we chose Hewlett Packard. They can easily adapt to our demands, and more importantly, can deliver on time," he added.

Hewlett Packard designed an all-inclusive integrated solution that involves data modeling, mapping, extraction, transformation, loading, software and networking requirements.

For Sun Cellular, this would allow them to effectively manage subscriber profiles. The technology attempts to treat each customer as an individual, not simply as an account or a mobile member.
