MANILA, Philippines — Hindi kinumpirma at hindi rin ­itinanggi ng Philippine National Police (PNP) kung may inisyung arrest warrant laban kay Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, ayon sa ulat nitong Linggo.

“The Philippine National Police does not confirm or deny the existence of warrants issued against any specific individual. The issuance of warrants is a matter within the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts, and it would be improper for us to publicly disclose such information,” ani PNP PIO Chief Police Colonel Allen Rae sa pahayag sa ABS-CBN News.

“What we can assure the public is that the PNP will always implement and execute any warrant issued by a competent court, through proper legal channels and in accordance with the law,” dagdag ni Co.

Paliwanag naman ni Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, wala siyang alam na kinasuhan si Marcoleta, at bago mag-isyu ng warrant of arrest, una muna ang pagsasampa ng kaso.

“For a warrant to occur, a charge must be filed against him at the Sandiganbayan. I know of no such charges being filed,” ayon kay Remulla.

Kaugnay ito sa naging pahayag ni Marcoleta noong Biyernes na hindi siya lalaban sa pag-aresto matapos makatanggap siya ng impormasyon na malapit nang maglabas ng warrant of arrest laban sa kanya kaugnay sa mga reklamong plunder at indirect bribery na nag-ugat sa hindi pagsisiwalat ng campaign funds mula kay dating Que­zon City Rep. Mike Defensor at mga negosyanteng sina Joseph Espiritu at Aristotle Viray.

Iginiit naman ni Marcoleta na ang mga kaso laban sa kanya ay mga pagtatangka na patahimikin siya.
