PANOORIN: Pagbawi sa 3 impeachment articles, pabor ba kay VP Sara?

MANILA, Philippines — Sinabi ni House lead prosecutor Rep. Jinky Luistro na pabor sa respondent na si Vice President Sara Duterte ang pag-withdraw ng prosekusyon sa tatlong articles of impeachment.

"Kasi kahit sa anggulo ko tingnan, it appears to me that what we did is really favorable for the respondent. Iisa na ang bala ng prosecution," ani Luistro sa press conference nitong Martes, Oktubre 13.

Pero iginiit din ni Luistro na ang natitirang artikulo tungkol sa unexplained wealth ang "strongest article" ng prosekusyon. Binigyang-diin din ito ng private prosecutor na si Lorna Kapunan.

"We are not unmindful of the comments of the senator-judges who have said that this is the strongest article. And that this precisely, this article is the one that has encompassed betrayal of public trust. It has encompassed treason, treachery. It has encompassed violation of the Constitution," ani Kapunan.

Dagdag ni Kapunan, naaayon din sa karapatan ng respondent sa mabilis na paglutas ng kaso ang pagbawi sa tatlong artikulo.

Iginiit din niya na hindi "one-sided" ang due process, at kabilang dito ang prosekusyon, mga senator-judges, at ang publiko.

Tinanggap ng Senate impeachment court ang pagbawi sa Article I tungkol sa confidential funds, Article III tungkol sa bribery sa Department of Education, at Article IV tungkol sa grave threats.
