San Juan seniors get free rice

MANILA, Philippines — First Lady Liza Marcos yesterday led the distribution of free rice in San Juan, benefiting 8,898 senior citizens.

Up to 4,400 beneficiaries received the second wave of assistance under the “Mula sa Puso Para sa Pamilya” initiative. The remaining recipients are scheduled to receive theirs within the week.

San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora joined Marcos during the rice distribution at the FilOil Center.

Each beneficiary received a 10-kilo sack of rice.

The rice assistance is funded through the Local Government Support Fund.

Under the program, qualified beneficiaries will get 10 kilos of rice monthly for four months, from May to November.

The rice assistance program aims to provide food support to vulnerable sectors, including senior citizens and indigent families.
