Batch 2001, 2015 and 2013 gain outright semis berths in SHAABAA Season 29

CEBU, Philippines — The ARQ Batch 2001, BRX Batch 2015, and Nest Work Spaces Batch 2013 secured an automatic semifinal seats after taking the No.2 seed in their respective divisions at the end of elimination round in the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Season 29 at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles Arena in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.
Carlo Villarica chalked up 20 points with seven rebounds, one assist and two steals as Batch 2001 trounced the 2K Cares, 79-38, to finish second in Division A behind the 6-0 Cebu Landmasters Batch 2003 A with a 5-1 win-loss record.
Michael Marquez added 12 points, four rebounds, one assist, and three steals while John Paul Cabrera chipped in 10 points, three rebounds and six assists for Batch 2001.
On the other hand, Jose Emmanuel Cabugao posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds while Ryan Li and Erick John Lim tallied 19 markers apiece as Batch 2002 routed the Magis Medical Services, 100-54, to march into the quarterfinal playoffs as fifth seed with a 2-4 card.
In Division B, Batch 2013 will go straight to the semis despite falling to the defending champions Harley Davidson Batch 2012, 83-88.
Batch 2013, 2012 and ‘04 The Win Batch 2004 actually figured in a three-way tie with similar 5-1 records but Batch 2004 and Batch 2013 grabbed the top two spots by virtue of their higher quotient.
Hatch IT Solutions Batch 2010 improved to 2-3 in a tie with Insular Square Batch 2005 after crushing Batch 2006, 69-41, behind the 29-point explosion of Jasper Diaz.
Meanwhile, Batch 2015 subdued Batch 2014, 73-69, to punch an outright Final Four ticket as the second ranked squad in Division C with a 5-2 slate behind the reigning titleholders Core+ Batch 2018 (6-1).
Janjan Jaboneta led Batch 2015 with 22 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals followed by Lorenzo Otero with 20 points, six rebounds, two assists, and four steals.
In the other result, Uriel Avila delivered an incredible 60-point performance on top of 14 rebounds, five assists, and a steal to lift the Comforser Tires Batch 2022 to a 107-106 nailbiter over FADI Batch 2021.
Rey Tristan Fuentes and Jhoernel Tangkay combined for 41 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists and five steals for Batch 2022, which crashed out of the tournament with only two victories in seven games.
