Alejano tatakbong senador sa 2019

MANILA, Philippines – Opisyal nang inihayag ni Magdalo Party-List Rep. Gary Alejano na tatakbo siyang senador sa 2019 midterm elections.

Sa kanyang Twitter post ngayong Martes, kinumpirma ni Alejano na tinanggap niya na ang nominasyon ng Magdalo Group para tumakbong senador.

 “I am grateful for the trust and confidence of my colleagues in Magdalo, especially Senator [Antonio IV] Trillanes for the nomination. I humbly submit to the direction and wisdom of the group as we have always decided collectively on important issues affecting our country,” ani Alejano.

Ipinangako niyang dadalhin ang laban ng Magdalo para sa magandang gobyerno at walang korupsyon na bansa. Bago maging isang party-list, ang Magdalo ay kilala sa paglulunsad ng mga mutinies laban sa gobyerno ni dating pangulong Gloria Arroyo nong 2003 at 2007.

Si Alejano at iba pang miyembro ng Magdalo ay nabigyan ng amnesty noong 2010 sa ilalim ng presidential proclamation na sinangayunan ng Kongreso.

 “Further, I believe that the country needs more independent-minded members of the Senate to speak for the people, stand up for democracy, defend our sovereignty and territorial integrity and craft policies to these ends,” ani Alejano.

“This is imperative now, seeing that most seem to be silent and indifferent to the abuses of the Duterte administration and its apparent subservience to China,” dagdag niya.

Ang dating Marine officer ay kritikal sa tayo ng gobyerno sa isyu sa South China Sea.

Inanunsyo noong nakaraan ni Liberal Party president Sen. Francis Pangilinan na isa si Alejano sa mga potensyal na kandidato ng “Resistance” coalition kasama sina Sen. Bam Aquino, dating Akbayan party-list Rep. Barry Gutierrez, LP Vice President for External Affairs Lorenzo “Erin” Tañada at De La Salle University College of Law Dean Jose Manuel Diokno.

Kasama rin ang aktres na si Agot Isidro sa gustong buuing partido ng LP.

Si Alejano ang unang kandidato sa pagkasenador na pormal nang idineklara ang pagtakbo.
