Three in Carcar nabbed for drugs, guns
CEBU, Philippines — Three men were arrested after police recovered firearms and suspected shabu estimated at ?77,000 during a checkpoint in Sitio Kapatagan, Barangay Perrelos, Carcar City, at around 4:50 P.M. last Friday, July 17.
The suspects were identified as Henry Cabungcal Racoma, 30, of Sitio Camagayan, Barangay Perrelos; Jerime Reponoya Casuejo, 38, of Victoria Village, Barangay Valladolid; and Jannel Cui, 26, of P. Del Corro Street, Barangay Poblacion 1, all residents of Carcar City.
Recovered from the suspects were an Intratec Miami FL Model TEC-KG9 semi-automatic pistol, three magazines containing 23 9mm rounds, a .22 cal. Black Widow revolver loaded with three rounds, a Honda Beat motorcycle, 77 sachets of suspected shabu, a cellular phone, and other items.
The Carcar City Police Station said police officers were conducting a checkpoint when they noticed a motorcycle suddenly make a U-turn in an apparent attempt to evade inspection.
Policemen immediately pursued the motorcycle driven by Racoma.
After intercepting the vehicle, they searched it and found the suspected shabu, firearms, and ammunition.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine why the suspects were carrying firearms and to verify their backgrounds.
The three suspects are expected to face charges for illegal possession of firearms and alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — (FREEMAN)
