Ride-sharing causing more traffic

From good to bad. Are ride-sharing schemes good for decongesting traffic in Metro Cebu? According to a source it has the opposite effect here. The reason? Many people want to make a business of it and buy cars to be used full-time in the scheme.

The result is more cars in the small roads of the metro. Rides are not shared anymore because these cars are actually out to look for riders, and not take people in the same direction.

This defeats the entire purpose of ride-sharing because instead of ride-sharing these cars bought for the scheme end up essentially becoming taxis.
