The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has hired 12 Chinese-speaking interpreters and deployed them to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to help Chinese tourists respond to questions from immigration officers, an official said yesterday.

A leader of the Abu Sayyaf group, believed to have orchestrated the kidnapping of four Samal Island tourists, and two of his cohorts were killed in an encounter in a district of Sabah on Thursday, the military said.
