Woman indicted for illegal drugs

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office has indicted a 33-year-old woman for illegal possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia.

State Prosecutor Maria Theresa Casiño held Juliefe Tulin, a resident of Barangay Ermita, Cebu City, for trial after finding probable cause.

Casiño recommended P200,000 bail for Tulin’s temporary liberty for illegal possession of shabu or violation of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The prosecutor further recommended P40,000 bail for Tulin’s illegal possession of drug paraphernalia or violation of Section 12 of RA 9165.

During the inquest proceeding, Tulin chose not to file a counter-affidavit to supposedly answer the allegations filed against her before the Prosecutor’s Office.

Instead, she told the state prosecutor that she will face the charges in court.

Tulin was arrested at her house last August 23 after she was seized with three medium-sized and 17 small packs of shabu amounting to P30,000, some of which were reportedly found among statue of saints.

Carbon police were armed with a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 19 Judge Wilfredo Navarro when they raided Tulin’s house and arrested her.

Along with the dangerous drugs, the police also recovered drug pa-raphernalia and P800,000 cash.

The suspect, who, police said, had been into drug trade for a year, denied the allegations and also denied owning the illegal drugs.  (FREEMAN)
