Ex-lawman wanted for kidnap slain in Davao City

DAVAO CITY – A former policeman listed as the eighth most wanted person in the country with a P825,000 bounty for kidnapping was slain in a shootout with police here yesterday.

Chief Superintendent Andres Caro II, Southern Mindanao police director, said policemen encountered former PO2 Allan Estrada in the compound of his parents’ house at Dacoville Subdivision in Toril district at around 10:30 a.m. yesterday.

Estrada reportedly had an arrest warrant issued last Sept. 3 by the Caloocan City regional trial court for a kidnapping-for-ransom case.

Police learned that a Davao del Sur politician had employed Estrada as a bodyguard.

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, who rushed to the scene of the shootout, said politicians have no business employing criminals as bodyguards.

Estrada, formerly assigned to the Traffic Management Group, was tagged in the abduction of a 13-year-old girl in 2003.
