Cakes with a twist at Makati Shangri-La

MANILA, Philippines - Makati Shangri-La Hotel’s Circles restaurant presents an array of out-of-the-box cake creations prepared by executive pastry chef Guillaume Bonnety.

For April, May, and June, exotic desserts include ginger lime biscuit, and exotic cremeux (lime, mango, and passion fruit). For April, the cake of the month is white chocolate mousse with passion fruit. Roffey, cacao indulgence with a twist, is the cake of the month for May. It has chocolate macadamia biscuit, macadamia nougatine, caramel cream, and praliner macadamia bavaroise on a chocolate plate. For the month of June, the Boreal cake has a burst of chocolate jelly and calamansi mousse on a chocolate macaroon biscuit.

The Flying Pig now on Tomas Morato

The Flying Pig introduces its roasted suckling pig that’s fried to perfection and served with bacon rice pilaf and balsamic liver.

Cherry blossom iced latte at Tokyo Cafe

Tokyo Café serves burger steaks, sandwiches and pasta dishes. It also has a selection of coffee-based beverages.   Sandwich munchers will surely love the gyoza burger, the teriyaki sandwich (loaded with tender strips of chicken teriyaki), and the katsu sandwich (deep-fried breaded pork cutlet as a sandwich filling with tonkatsu sauce and Japanese mayonnaise as dressing).

Tokyo Café’s four special blends — Sumibiyaki, a strong, full-bodied coffee blend; Tokyo Blend, a mild blend; house blend, a blend that is lighter than Tokyo Blend; and Emerald Decaf — is made of coffee beans from Colombia and Brazil.
