Cessna crashes off beach resort

CEBU, Philippines - A Cessna plane made an emergency landing at Hadsan Cove Beach Resort in Barangay Agus, Lapu-Lapu City, around 10:50 a.m. yesterday after experiencing engine trouble. All three on board are safe.

The Cessna 206 with body number RPC 1175 owned by the Mactan Aviation Technological Center reportedly executed an emergency landing just minutes after it took off from the Mactan Cebu International Airport.

Captain Joseph Chiong was able to send radio message to the tower keeper of MCIA before the landing. He was with Capt. Saturnino dela Cruz and Dito Adrian in the plane.

Primo Amoren, a fisherman who saw what happened, said he thought that plane was part of air show, flying so low until it fell directly on its nose into the water.

“Abi nako nag-show lang kay ubos ra man kaayo unya nidiritso man ug crash,” Amoren told reporters.

Amoren rescued the three victims and got them to shore on his pump boat as the plane sank.

The three were later taken to the Air Transportation Office at the MCIA. (FREEMAN)
