Hot on the heels

Francine Gacrama - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the iconic British luxury lifestyle brand touches on romance, decadence and uniformity for its latest winter lineup. Sandra Choi, creative director of the brand, embraces contrast to achieve harmony for the modern Jimmy Choo woman. “A whole range of different references — from regimental to La Belle Époque — provided me with the creative raw material to explore a sense of sensual friction. Why friction? Because tension and contrasts are at the heart of this collection — most particularly tough fused with soft. And because friction generates heat,” Choi explains. The lineup takes inspiration from the hard lushness of masculine military regalia, the sensual rainbow palette of Art Nouveau with a touch of Edwardian flounce and aviatrix strength.

The highlight of the collection is a heel that commands attention. The Mari is a nod to the Belle Époque period and is lavishly wrapped in a rich velvet material. Available in three gem-toned color ways, these steppers are adorned with gold eyelets and add a hint of corsetry through lacing. Not a fan of the Mari but still want the lushness of velvet? Kindly direct your attention to the Lacey. For a more contemporary look, the Lacey is four-inch heel that has our instant stamp of approval. The strappy style of this pointy-framed shoe adds glamour to any look.

The autumn-winter 2016 collection touches on romance, decadence and uniformity.

Moving on to bags, the Lockett is at the forefront of this opulent collection. The bag comes in a variety of styles and for this season Jimmy Choo takes it a step further with its boldest version yet. The style features a block of red-piped ostrich leg body flanked with pony animal print and a detachable scarlet and black fox fur shoulder ruff decorating the strap. Prefer something more practical? The Twist is a two-panel tote that converts into a backpack and has the same velvet material reminiscent to the footwear from the collection.

Alongside the launch of its winter collection, Jimmy Choo unveils its campaign photographed by Craig McDean featuring a powerful lineup of models. Amber Valletta, Milla Jovovich, Sasha Pivovarova, Lexi Boling, Taylor Hill, Jasmine Tookes and Xiao Wen Ju represent the dynamism of the brand and each model embodies the essence of the Jimmy Choo woman. “The autumn-winter campaign is a reflection of the characters who embody the Jimmy Choo brand values both during the past 20 years and into the future. It is a modern vision for our woman and signals a bold new chapter,” says the creative director. The campaign is accompanied by a video and will be available to view at jimmychoo.com.

On its 20th anniversary, the brand takes it a step further with bold and innovative designs.

A rich collection and campaign on its own, consider this lineup ideal for the sensual YStyle woman.
