Easy breezy: Uniqlo's S/S 2018 collection features their AIRism technology and the Uniqlo U line designed by Christopher Lemaire.

Level up your wardrobe staples with Uniqlo’s spring/summer 2018 collection.

MANILA, Philippines — I’ll admit: I’m a true-blue Uniqlo stan. More often than not, I find myself wearing the Japanese brand head-to-toe. I mean, decent quality basics, comfy and affordable and in Asian sizes? You may not think much of it, but among the fast fashion chains in the country, Uniqlo is probably the best to build a good wardrobe foundation on.

You can imagine my excitement at the unveiling of Uniqlo’s spring/summer 2018 collection. Okay, I know what you might be thinking: “But all they have is basics!” “What else could they have that’s (puts on Miranda Priestly voice) groundbreaking?”

Well, Brenda, they’ve got a couple of tricks still left up their sleeves, and even if you weren’t already a Uniqlo hoe anticipating these drops, they’re definitely worth a look.

As a clothing nerd, the most exciting thing from Uniqlo’s presentation by far was their AIRism innerwear. They are made of special fabric that wicks away sweat to keep you cool under the searing summer sun. It comes in various forms of innerwear: shorts, trunks, bra tops and undershirts. Perfect for avoiding sweat stains when trying to look cute in front of your crush (trust me — been there, done that).

Debuting this season is the brand’s collaboration with Marimekko, the design house known for its bold prints and vibrant colors. The collection includes graphic T-shirts, swingy sleeveless blouses, wide-leg cropped pants, and sleeveless shift dresses, all in flattering cuts and colors that should go with everyone from your younger sister to your tita.

Also included in Uniqlo’s S/S offering is the second installment of the new Uniqlo U collection, which first dropped late last month. The U line designed by Christopher Lemaire has gained a sort of cult following and routinely gets sold out (the complete collection usually drops in Megamall, so you better get your butt there stat if you want some U goodness).
