MANILA, Philippines — After creating quite a stir, the golfer who played rounds in three courses in and around Metro Manila apparently as he awaited the results of his COVID-19 test has profusely apologized for his actions.

He admitted that what he did was uncalled for and expressed hopes that no one got infected by his indiscretion.

“Guys, I know apologies won’t do anyone any good right now but I am very sorry that I did this to the group. It doesn’t matter how I feel or what I was thinking – I was wrong to keep playing golf,” he told his Viber group.

The asymptomatic player with multi-club memberships took the test last July 13, and yielded positive results six days after.

According to shared information, he allegedly played at The Orchard in Cavite on July 14, Alabang Golf and Country Club on the 16th, again at Orchard on the 18th and back at Alabang on the 19th. He played rounds at Southwoods last July 8, and twice more at Orchard on the 9th and 11th of the month.

As a result, the said courses have taken adequate actions, including sanitation and disinfection. The Orchard halted operations for two days.
